mS! In one word, describe 2011

Julie Cormier-Doiron: Unexpected

mS! What was your top accomplishment this year?

J.CD: I achieved many things that I am proud of this year. My top 3 include getting a promotion, being chosen as an intern for miss SLY! and getting my article published in Ottawa Life Magazine.

mS! What was your favorite fashion moment/news of the year?

J.CD: My favorite fashion moment this year was seeing Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit The world of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Montréal.

This was a combination of two of my favorite things: museums and fashion. The exhibit was so innovative and it was inspiring to see JPG’s amazing pieces throughout his long career.

Another favorite moment was being backstage during Ottawa Fashion Week, where I had the opportunity to interview talented designers, such as Amber Watkins, Stacey Bafi-Yeboa of Kania Couture and Birds of North America among others.

The interview that stood out for me was Samuel Dong. I was surprised to learn that he not only designs the clothing, but also the handbags and belts. Dong’s pieces are feminine, elegant and edgy. I especially loved the green dress featured in his SS12 Collection.

mS! What Spring/Summer 2012 trend will you adopt next year?

J.CD: I definitely need to add more prints to my wardrobe so I will definitely adopting that trend. I also hope that wedges are here to stay because I adore them!

mS! What is the one thing you will stop doing in 2012?

J.CD: In 2012, I will stop wearing flats (…as much). I also hope to stop burning myself with my flat iron.

mS! What can we expect from you/your website in 2012?

J.CD: In 2012, I hope to get more of my writing published in more magazines and blogs. As well as focus more on my blog juliecdoiron.wordpress.com, update it more frequently and discuss some of the exciting things that are happening in Ottawa.

I am also hoping to travel more to Montreal and Toronto (two cities I love) and finally visit New York City.

mS! In one word, describe miss SLY!

J.CD: miss SLY! = Unconventional

mS! Any words of wisdom to close the year

J.CD: Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it all… because guess what? You can!
