PRC-2: Ep.1 “Fashion Is a Battlefield”

At last, it is very exciting to watch the show knowing that it’s taking place here in Ottawa, which puts our National Capital on the forefront of Canadian Fashion for once, love it!

The first episode saw the early departures of Danio and Jaclyn due to medical reasons. They didn’t get a chance to compete, which is too bad because I feel that Danio had a lot to offer and great chances to make it to the Top 3. I hope they both get well, health first there will be other opportunities.

Most Designers were particularly nervous, can you blame them? Maybe to the exception of Brandon, Kim and Margarita who I found to be more vocal than the others. Sunny’s personality won me over; he is in my opinion charming, silent but deadly so watch out for him. Adejoke was a totak class act and Jessica pretty bubbly. Jeff seemed genuinely happy to be there (his emotion was palpable).

But with a one hour season premiere, picking up on the true essence of each Designer turned out to be more difficult than I thought, let’s hope the upcoming episodes will tell us more. ====================================================== Project Runway is all about the unpredictable and nerve-racking challenges that often remind us of a war of fabrics and creativity, and this season makes no exception, kicking things off right on the money.

The Designers joined Brian and Iman at the Canadian War Museum, to be introduced to their very first challenge. Still in the concept of war, they were asked to create a groundbreaking design inspired, using Camouflage fabrics. The winning design would be featured at the “Canadian War Museum Camouflage Exhibition” this the summer (which I must attend now!).

I am not a big fan of Camouflage and if it weren’t for PRC-2 I wouldn’t even bother, but this challenge was more than camouflage and war, it was clearly the chance for the Designers to introduce themselves to the Canadian Public, and I couldn’t miss that. They were asked to create a groundbreaking design around the “war” them to show what they’re really about, by incorporating their personal touch in the process. I studied every single design with a watchful eye, one after the other, taking fierce notes, occasionally clapping, smiling, nodding…or at times staring in mayhem.

- Baylor: One-shoulder flirty dress showing some legs, was sexy but just a little too green for my taste
